Pea prices fall due to lack of customers
Kanpur. Pea prices declined during the last week due to increased availability and weak demand. Pea production increased in Canada, Russia and other countries. India imported more than 20 lakh tonnes of peas from January to July. Import demand started decreasing due to large stock of peas in India. This year, yellow pea crop is good in Canada, sufficient stock is available for export. Canada and Russia exporters are eyeing India's pea import deadline. Due to increased availability of peas at the port, there is pressure of importers selling peas. Due to which, during the last week, imported pea prices fell by Rs 50 per quintal and the price at the weekend remained Mumbai Canada Rs 3900 Russia Rs 3725/50 and currency Canada Rs 3800 and Russia Rs 3675/3700 per quintal. Due to sluggish demand, Kanpur peas witnessed a decline of Rs. 100 per quintal last week and with this decline, the price remained at Rs. 4150 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Lalitpur peas witnessed a decline of Rs. 50 per quintal during the last week and the price remained at Rs. 3700/3775 per quintal at the weekend. Due to weak demand, Mahoba peas witnessed a decline of Rs. 50 per quintal and the price remained at Rs. 3600/3950 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Mauranipur peas also witnessed a decline of Rs. 100 per quintal and with this decline, the price remained at Rs. 3700/3800 per quintal at the weekend. Due to sluggish demand, Konch peas witnessed a decline of Rs. 100 per quintal this week and the price remained at Rs. 3600/3750 per quintal. Due to the impact of all round fall and sluggish buying, prices of peas in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal last week and the price remained at Rs. 3750/3850 per quintal.

Due to the impact of fall in pea prices and weak buying, prices of peas dal witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and the price at the end of the week remained at Rs. 4450/4500 in Kanpur and Rs. 4700/5050 per quintal in Indore.
