Pea Prices Softened Due to Sluggish Demand
Pea prices have shown a decline this week, largely due to weak demand and increased selling at higher prices. The availability of imported peas at the port has put additional pressure on the market. Importers, facing sluggish buying interest, have reduced prices, which has further contributed to the softening of prices.
Key Price Movements:
Imported Peas: Prices dropped by Rs 25-50 per quintal. As of the weekend:
- Canada: Rs 3550-3600 per quintal
- Russia: Rs 3400 per quintal
- Currency (Canada): Rs 3375-3400 per quintal
- Currency (Russia): Rs 3325-3350 per quintal
Kanpur Peas: Weak demand from dal millers led to a Rs 25 per quintal drop, with prices settling at Rs 3725-3750 per quintal.
Lalitpur Peas: Prices saw a Rs 100 decline, with rates at Rs 3200-3350 per quintal.
Mahoba Peas: Prices increased by Rs 50 per quintal this week, reaching Rs 3300-3400 per quintal.
Mauranipur Peas: A Rs 50 drop was noted, with prices remaining at Rs 3150-3250 per quintal.
Damoh Peas: Similar declines of Rs 50 per quintal were observed, with prices standing at Rs 3275-3350 per quintal.
Peas Dal: The price of pea dal remained stable this week due to continued weak demand. In Kanpur, it held at Rs 4100-4150 per quintal, while in Indore, it was steady at Rs 4250 per quintal.
In summary, the pea market this week saw declines across several regions due to sluggish demand, with the only exception being Mahoba peas, which saw a slight price increase.
