Pea buying remains calm due to lack of demand

It seems like the pea market is experiencing a period of stability but with downward pressure due to sluggish demand and increased imports.

The significant increase in pea imports this year is expected to continue influencing price fluctuations, especially since the total imports are projected to reach 29.58 lakh tonnes, a sharp rise from 2023's 0.1 lakh tonnes.

The effect of the fall in other pulses' prices is also being felt, further adding to the downward trend in peas.

It’s interesting how the price stability of imported peas, despite weak demand, contrasts with the declines seen in local markets like Kanpur, Mahoba, and Mauranipur.

The ripple effect of weaker buying is also affecting pea dal prices, with a noticeable drop in key markets.

Do you think this trend will continue in the coming weeks, or might there be any significant shifts in demand?
