No possibility of rise in Red Chilli

New Delhi. During the current week, Red Chilli witnessed a softening trend due to low export and local demand. It is noteworthy that due to late rains in the major producing states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, there is news of delay in sowing of red chilli this year, besides there being a 20/25 percent reduction in the sowing area. Earlier, in Madhya Pradesh also, the sowing of red chilli was less this year as compared to last year. Currently, the arrival of new red chilli in the markets of Madhya Pradesh has started increasing gradually. Whereas due to excess stock, the arrival in Guntur market is going on strongly.
Price soft
Due to increasing arrival and weak demand, the price of Red Chilli Teja in Guntur market during the current week was quoted at Rs 185 with a softening from Rs 188. Due to excess stock, despite being off season, the daily average arrival was 70/80 thousand bags. The arrival in Khammam market was 10/12 thousand bags and the price of Teja remained soft at Rs 200. In Warangal too, the price of Teja was quoted at Rs 180 at the weekend. Due to sufficient stock at the production centers and the arrival of new goods in the markets of Madhya Pradesh, there is no possibility of increase in the prices of red chilli in the near future.
Stock
Due to higher production during the current season, the stock of red chilli at the markets of production centers is considered to be more than last year. It is worth mentioning that the stock of red chilli in Guntur Mandi of Andhra Pradesh is currently believed to be 40/45 lakh bags. While there are reports of stock in Khammam being 12/13 lakh bags and Warangal being 13/14 lakh bags. Last year, in the same period, the stock of red chilli in Guntur was 30/35 lakh bags and in Telangana it was 15/16 lakh bags.
Madhya Pradesh
The arrival of new red chilli in the markets of Madhya Pradesh has started increasing gradually. In the main market Bedia, the arrival of new red chilli has started to be 2000/2500 bags. And the price of Mahi Fulkat is being quoted at Rs 180/190. In the coming days, if there is pressure of arrival, then the prices may fall. It is worth mentioning that due to the decrease in the area of sowing, this year the production of red chilli in Madhya Pradesh is estimated to be 30/32 lakh bags, whereas last year the production was 38/40 lakh bags.
No possibility of increase
Knowledgeable sources say that there is no possibility of increase in the prices of red chilli in the near future. Because the arrival of new red chillies will start increasing in the markets of Madhya Pradesh in the coming days, apart from this, the buying of exporters remains weak, while due to excess stock, the stockists have maintained the selling pressure to lighten their stock. Due to which the arrival of red chillies in the major market Guntur is going well.
Low exports
Due to weak demand from China and Bangladesh as well as Malaysia, the export of red chillies in the first quarter of the current season has been less than last year. According to the information received, during April-July-2024, the export of red chillies was 165779 tonnes, whereas during the same time period last year, 178277 tonnes of red chillies were exported. During the year 2023-24 (April-March), the total export of red chillies was 601084 tonnes. Whereas in the year 2021-22, the record export of red chillies was 649815 tonnes.
