Limited ups and downs in soybean due to weak demand from millers
New Delhi. Due to weak business in oil and mills, crushing-processing plants are not getting incentive to buy soybean at higher prices.
Plant Price
The plant delivery price of soybean has been running 10-15 percent below the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 4892 per quintal since the beginning of the season and despite record government purchases, the market could not strengthen.
Ups and downs
During the week of July 5-11, soybean prices saw a slight ups and downs of Rs 25-50 per quintal amid limited business. Government stock is also being sold. Its plant delivery price is running between Rs 4450-4550 per quintal.
Soy Oil (Refined)
There is not much demand for soy refined oil as well, due to which its prices are under pressure to a great extent. Although its price increased by Rs. 15 and Rs. 10 per 10 kg respectively in one unit each of Dewas and Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh, but in Maharashtra the price remained stable or declined by Rs. 5. The price of soybean oil remained at the previous level in Kota, Mumbai, Kandla and Haldia. On July 8, 2 lakh bags of soybean arrived in the markets of major producing states, while each bag is of 100 kg.
Soya DOC
Due to weak domestic and export demand, the prices of soya DOC declined by Rs. 100 to Rs. 800 per tonne, while in a unit of Madhya Pradesh its price fell by Rs. 3300 to Rs. 30500 per tonne. In the plants of Maharashtra and Rajasthan also, the price of soya DOC generally came down by Rs. 200-500 per tonne. However, in a unit of Maharashtra, it improved by Rs. 400 to Rs. 30500 per tonne.
Sowing / Production
Sowing of soybean, an important oilseed of the Kharif season, has started quite early and after lagging behind in the initial phase, now its production area seems to be ahead of last year. Indore-based organization- Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) has expressed the possibility of a decline of up to 5 percent in the production area of soyabean at the national level during the current year as compared to last year, so it will be necessary to keep an eye on it till the sowing process is completed.
Increase in MSP
The government has increased the minimum support price of soybean by Rs 436 from Rs 4892 per quintal for the 2024-25 season to Rs 5328 per quintal for the 2025-26 season.
