Turvar prices continue to decline unilaterally due to lack of consumer support
Mumbai. The turvar market continued its downward trend during the current week. Consumer demand remained tepid, limiting buying by dal millers. Mills are currently avoiding large purchases due to lack of expected demand for tur dal. Meanwhile, imports of cheap tur dal from Africa and Burma are steadily increasing, putting further pressure on domestic prices. Low imported tur dal prices have weakened domestic tur dal demand. Unless domestic demand improves and imports slow, there is no significant upside potential for tur (tur) prices. Due to increased selling pressure from importers, Mumbai African tur (tur) prices declined by ₹50/₹75 per quintal this week, closing at ₹5300/₹5350 for Mozambique White, ₹5100/₹5150 for Gajari, ₹5000/₹5000 for Mtwara, ₹5000/₹5050 for Malawi, and ₹6150 for Sudan. Similarly, Chennai tur lemon prices declined by ₹150 per quintal this week, closing at ₹5975/₹6050 per quintal.
