Weak Demand Puts Pressure on Tur Prices
Mumbai. The Tur market continued its downward trend during the current week. Tur prices remained under pressure due to a lack of demand and weak consumer demand. Limited offtake of Tur dal resulted in muted buying by dal millers, further pressuring the market. Traders say that only when demand improves can Tur prices stabilize or rise. Currently, the market remains under pressure, and a significant improvement is unlikely in the near term. Due to increased selling pressure from importers and sluggish buying, Mumbai African Tuvar prices declined by Rs 100/150 per quintal this week, and with this decline, the prices at the weekend stood at Rs 5500/5550 for Mozambique White, Rs 5200/5250 for Gajari, Rs 5200/5250 for Mtwara, Rs 5200/5250 for Malawi, Rs 4900/4950 for Sudan and Rs 6700/6750 per quintal for Sudan. Similarly, Chennai Tuvar Lemon prices declined by Rs 75 per quintal this week, and stood at Rs 6500 per quintal at the weekend.
Imported
Due to sluggish export demand, Burma Tuvar prices declined by $15 per tonne this week, and with this rise, the prices at the weekend stood at $725 per tonne.
Delhi
Due to the impact of the port prices and the lukewarm demand, Delhi Tuvar Lemon saw a decline of Rs. 50 per quintal and Desi Tuvar saw a decline of Rs. 150 per quintal during the current week. With this decline, the prices at the weekend stood at Rs. 6950 for Lemon and Rs. 7200/7300 for Desi.
Maharashtra
Due to continued selling pressure and sluggish demand, Maharashtra Tuvar prices saw a decline of Rs. 100/250 per quintal during the week. With this decline, the prices at the weekend stood at Rs. 6200/7000 for Solapur, Rs. 7050/7100 for Akola, Rs. 6800/7100 for Latur, Rs. 6800 for Nagpur, Rs. 7100 for Hinganghat, Rs. 6000/7100 for Ahmednagar.
Karnataka
Due to sluggish buying, Karnataka Tur prices declined by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week, and with this decline, the prices at the weekend stood at Rs. 6500/7100 for Gulbarga, Rs. 5769/6339 for Raichur, Rs. 5931/6631 for Bidar, and Rs. 5800/5900 per quintal for Talikota.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to limited demand, Madhya Pradesh Tur prices declined by Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week, and with this decline, the prices at the weekend stood at Rs. 7200/7500 for Katni, Rs. 5000/6300 for Jabalpur, Rs. 4800/6375 for Pipariya, and Rs. 5700/5970 per quintal for Kareli.
Other
Kanpur Tur (tur) prices declined by Rs. 50 per quintal this week, closing at Rs. 6,400 per quintal. Similarly, Raipur Tur (tur) prices declined by Rs. 150 per quintal this week, closing at Rs. 7,150/7,350 per quintal.
Tur Dal
Due to sluggish demand, Tur Dal prices declined by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week, with prices falling to Rs. 10,050/10,600 per quintal at Delhi Fatka, Rs. 9,600/9,800 per quintal at Katni Fatka, Rs. 9,600/9,800 per quintal at Akola, Rs. 9,800/10,700 per quintal at Latur Fatka, Rs. 10,500/10,700 per quintal at Gulbarga Fatka, and Rs. 9,600/9,700 per quintal at Kanpur Fatka.
