Price Weakening Due to Increased Selling Pressure and Weak Buying

This week saw a decline in Tuvar prices across various markets due to several factors, including increased arrivals of new Indian crops, weak buying, and higher selling pressure from stockists and importers.

  • Chennai: The price of Chennai Tuvar Lemon decreased by Rs. 500 per quintal, settling at Rs. 9150–9200 per quintal.

  • Mumbai: Prices for African Tuvar also witnessed a decline:

    • Mozambique White: Rs. 6750–6800
    • Gajari: Rs. 6500–6550
    • Malawi: Rs. 6300–6400
    • Dodomo: Rs. 6350–6400
    • Sudan: Rs. 10300–10400

    These decreases ranged between Rs. 50–100 per quintal.

  • Burma: Exporters' increased selling and sluggish demand led to a decline of $75 per ton, with the price at $940 per ton by the weekend.

  • Delhi: The decline in prices in Delhi was notable, with Tuvar Lemon dropping by Rs. 400 and Desi Tuvar falling by Rs. 300 per quintal. Prices ended the week at:

    • Lemon: Rs. 9800
    • Desi Tuvar: Rs. 10200–10400
  • Maharashtra: The state saw sporadic arrivals of new Tuvar, leading to a drop of Rs. 250–500 per quintal in prices. Prices were:

    • Solapur & Akola: Rs. 9000–10300
    • Nagpur: Rs. 9850–10400
    • Latur: Rs. 10250–10300
    • Ahmednagar: Rs. 9400–9600
  • Karnataka: Increased arrivals in Karnataka markets also pushed prices down by Rs. 200–500 per quintal. Prices stood at:

    • Gulbarga: Rs. 9500–10100
    • Raichur: Rs. 9802–10469
    • Yadgir: Rs. 9119–10215
    • Talikota: Rs. 9413–10500
  • Madhya Pradesh: Sluggish demand from dal millers led to a drop of Rs. 300–500 per quintal. Prices were:

    • Katni: Rs. 10300
    • Jabalpur: Rs. 7000–9000
    • Pipariya: Rs. 9000
    • Kareli: Rs. 7800–8800
  • Raipur: Prices fell by Rs. 400 per quintal, with the weekend price at Rs. 10000–10400.

  • Kanpur: The price in Kanpur decreased by Rs. 200 per quintal, ending at Rs. 8700.


Tuvar Dal Prices

Due to the fall in Tuvar prices and sluggish demand, Tuvar Dal prices also saw a decline of Rs. 150–300 per quintal across various markets. Prices at the weekend were:

  • Delhi Fatka: Rs. 15000–15950
  • Katni Fatka: Rs. 14450–14650
  • Akola: Rs. 15100–15800
  • Latur Fatka: Rs. 16000–16200
  • Gulbarga Fatka: Rs. 14800–15500
  • Kanpur Fatka: Rs. 14400–14800
