Tuvar prices fall due to weak demand

Mumbai. The trend of decline in tuvar prices continued this week as well. Due to lack of customer support in the market and increased selling pressure, there is constant pressure on tuvar prices. Buying from dal millers remains weak, as there is lack of demand for tuvar dal. According to the latest data of the Agriculture Department, till now tur has been sown in a total area of 40.86 lakh hectares across the country, whereas till this time last year this figure was 42.87 lakh hectares. In this regard, a decline of 2.01 lakh hectares (about 7%) has been recorded in sowing, which can become a matter of concern for the upcoming production. Due to increased selling by importers and weak demand, Mumbai African Tuvar prices witnessed a fall of Rs. 100 per quintal this week and the prices remained stable at Mozambique White Rs. 5650/5700, Gajari Rs. 5500/5550, Matwara Rs. 5450/5500, Malawi Rs. 5400/5450 and Sudan Rs. 6250/6300 per quintal at the end of the week. Due to continued buying, Chennai Tuvar Lemon prices remained stable at Rs. 6275/6300 per quintal at the end of the week with a rise and fall of Rs. 25/50 per quintal.
Burma
Due to increased selling by exporters and slow buying, Burma Tuvar prices witnessed a fall of $10 per ton this week and with this fall, the prices remained at $710 per ton at the end of the week.
Delhi
Due to the impact of port fall and slow buying, during the current week, Delhi Tuvar Lemon witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal and Desi Tuvar also witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal and with this fall, the price of Lemon remained at Rs. 6675/6700 and Desi at Rs. 6825/6900 per quintal at the weekend.
Maharashtra
Due to slow buying and increase in selling, Maharashtra Tuvar prices witnessed a fall of Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the price of Solapur remained at Rs. 6000/6700, Akola at Rs. 6700/6900, Latur at Rs. 6550/6600, Nagpur at Rs. 6800/6825 and Hinganghat at Rs. 5700/6500 per quintal at the weekend.
Karnataka
Due to weak demand, Karnataka tuvar prices have declined by Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices remained at Gulbarga Rs. 6000/6700, Raichur Rs. 5789/6339, Bidar Rs. 6099/6528, Yadgir Rs. 5500/6274 and Talikot Rs. 5425/6319 per quintal at the weekend.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to weak demand, Madhya Pradesh tuvar prices have declined by Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Katni Rs. 6700/6850, Jabalpur Rs. 5000/6400, Pipariya Rs. 5000/6400 per quintal at the weekend.
Others
Due to weak buying, Kanpur tuvar prices have declined by Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs. 6600 per quintal at the weekend. Whereas Raipur Tuvar prices did not see any rise or fall this week and the prices remained stable at Rs. 6900/7100 per quintal at the weekend.
Tuvar Dal
Due to the impact of fall in Tuvar prices and weak buying, Tuvar Dal prices witnessed a fall of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the prices at the weekend remained at Delhi Phatka Rs. 9775/10275, Katni Phatka Rs. 8800/9300, Akola Rs. 9000/10300, Latur Phatka Rs. 9900/10100, Gulbarga Phatka Rs. 9200/9900 and Kanpur Phatka Rs. 10200/10400 per quintal.
