Tuvar prices rise on festive demand

Mumbai. Turvar prices remained bullish during the current week. Selling slowed at lower prices after the recent decline, while strong demand supported the market. Recent excessive rains in the major turvar-producing regions of Karnataka and Maharashtra have severely damaged the crop. Consequently, a significant decline in turvar production is expected in the upcoming season. Currently, turvar arrivals in the markets remain extremely limited. Consequently, buying by dal millers and stockists is increasing. Prices have risen due to the decrease in turvar availability and increased demand. Due to improved demand, Mumbai African Tur prices saw a rise of Rs. 50 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 5300/5350 for Mozambique White, Rs. 5150/5200 for Gajari, Rs. 5000/5050 for Mtwara, Rs. 5000/5050 for Malawi, Rs. 4900/4950 for Sudan, and Rs. 6300/6350 for Sudan. Similarly, Chennai Tur Lemon saw a rise of Rs. 100 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 6200/6250 per quintal at the end of the week.
Imported
Burma Tur prices saw a rise of $22 per tonne this week, reaching $695 per tonne at the end of the week due to weak selling by exporters. Similarly, African Tuvar prices also witnessed a rise of $15-20 per tonne this week and with this rise, the prices at the weekend reached Mozambique White $575, Mtwara $530, Arusha $580 and Gajri $560 per tonne.
Delhi
Due to the support of the rise in port prices and increased demand, Delhi Tuvar Lemon saw a rise of Rs 150 per quintal and Desi Tuvar also saw a rise of Rs 150 per quintal during the current week and with this rise, the prices at the weekend reached Rs 6650 for Lemon and Rs 6800 for Desi.
Maharashtra
Due to weak selling and increased buying, Maharashtra Tur prices rose by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week, and with this increase, the prices at the weekend reached Rs. 6000/6750 in Solapur, Rs. 6675/6875 in Akola, Rs. 6700/6850 in Latur, Rs. 6700/6850 in Nagpur, Rs. 6825/6850 in Hinganghat and Rs. 6100/6550 per quintal.
Karnataka
Due to better buying, Karnataka Tur prices rose by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week, and with this increase, the prices at the weekend reached Rs. 6500/7050 in Gulbarga, Rs. 4987/6409 in Raichur, Rs. 4987/6409 in Bidar, Rs. 5689/6418 in Yadgir, Rs. 5911/6500 in Talikota and Rs. 6029/6339 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to improved demand, Madhya Pradesh Tur prices rose by Rs. 100/250 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 6850/7150 per quintal in Katni, Rs. 5200/6000 per quintal in Jabalpur, Rs. 5000/6250 per quintal in Pipariya and Rs. 5000/6250 per quintal in Pipariya.
Other
Due to the support of the rally and increased buying, Kanpur Tur prices rose by Rs. 100 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 6000 per quintal at the end of the week. Similarly, Raipur Tur prices rose by Rs. 250 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 6900/7100 per quintal at the end of the week.
Tuvar Dal
Supported by the rise in Tuvar prices and festive demand, the prices of Tuvar Dal have increased by Rs 200/300 per quintal during the current week and with this increase, the prices at the weekend reached Delhi Fatka at Rs 9525/9950, Katni Fatka at Rs 8900/9300, Akola at Rs 9000/10300, Latur Fatka at Rs 9900/10100, Gulbarga Fatka at Rs 9300/10300 and Kanpur Fatka at Rs 9400/9500 per quintal.
