Urad prices rise due to increased selling
Chennai. Urad prices remained bullish during the current week due to weakening of selling at low prices and better buying. Arrival of new urad is increasing in the producing markets of Maharashtra. Millers and stockists are active in new urad, which is supporting the rising prices of urad. Chennai urad registered an increase of Rs 250/300 per quintal this week due to weakening of selling by importers and increased buying and the price at the weekend reached FAQ Rs 8400 and SQ Rs 9000 per quintal. Similarly, Mumbai urad also jumped by Rs 300 per quintal this week and reached Rs 8600 per quintal at the weekend.
Burma
Due to weakening of selling by exporters and increase in buying, Burma Urad FAQ witnessed a rise of $ 60 and SQ witnessed a rise of $ 65 per tonne during the current week and the price reached $ 985 per FAQ and $ 1080 per SQ at the weekend.
Delhi
Due to the support of rise in the port and increase in demand from dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ witnessed a good rise of Rs 175 and SQ witnessed a rise of Rs 300 per quintal during the current week and the price reached Rs 8875 per FAQ and Rs 9400 per SQ at the weekend.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to weak buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh urad witnessed a fall of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the prices at the weekend remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 6000/7500, Ganjbasoda Rs. 6000/8500, Jabalpur Rs. 7500/8600, Kareli Rs. 6000/8500, Damoh Rs. 8000/8400 and Indore Rs. 8000/8500 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Gradual increase is being seen in the arrival of new urad in the producing markets, but pressure of arrival has not been created yet. Due to strong buying by dal millers, Maharashtra urad prices registered a rise of Rs. 200/300 per quintal this week and with this rise, the prices reached Rs. 9000 in Akola, Rs. 7000/8720 in Latur, Rs. 8000/8500 in Solapur, Rs. 8000/8500 in Dudhni, Rs. 8000/8900 and Ahmednagar Rs. 7500/8500 per quintal at the weekend.
Others
Due to support of all-round rise and better demand, Andhra Pradesh's Krishna District urad witnessed a rise of Rs. 300 and Vijayawada urad also witnessed a rise of Rs. 150 per quintal this week and the prices reached Rs. 8975 in Krishna District and Rs. 8850 per quintal in Vijayawada at the weekend. Similarly, Raipur urad also rose by Rs. 400 this week and reached Rs. 9300 per quintal at the weekend.
Urad Dal
Due to support of bullishness in Urad and improvement in demand, prices of Urad Dal have seen an improvement of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this improvement, the prices at the weekend remained at Delhi Rs. 10650/11600, Bhatapara Rs. 11200, Jalgaon Rs. 11800, Meerut Rs. 10200/10500 and Indore Rs. 10000/12300 per quintal.
