Buying of Urad weak due to sluggish demand

Chennai. Due to increased availability of Urad in the producing markets and high moisture content in the new stock, buying has remained weak, due to which the prices of Urad have declined during the current week. Due to weak demand in Urad dal, buying of Urad by dal mills has remained limited, due to which there is pressure on the prices of Urad. Due to increased selling pressure from importers and weak buying, Chennai Urad registered a decline of Rs 100/150 per quintal this week and the price remained at Rs 8250 per quintal for FAQ and Rs 8950 per quintal for SQ at the weekend. Similarly, Mumbai Urad also declined by Rs 150 per quintal this week and remained at Rs 8450 per quintal at the weekend.

Burma

Due to increased selling by exporters and weak buying, Burma Urad FAQ declined by 5 dollars and SQ declined by 5 dollars per tonne during the current week and the price remained at 970 dollars per FAQ and 1065 dollars per SQ at the weekend.

Delhi

Due to the impact of port decline and sluggish demand from dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ declined by 125 rupees and SQ declined by 125 rupees per quintal during the current week and the price remained at 8700 rupees per FAQ and 9350 rupees per SQ at the weekend.

Madhya Pradesh

Sporadic arrival of new Urad has started in the producing markets of Madhya Pradesh. At present, light and heavy goods are arriving in the markets. Due to weak buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh Urad witnessed a decline of Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices at the weekend remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 6000/7500, Ganjbasoda Rs. 6000/8500, Jabalpur Rs. 7000/8550, Kareli Rs. 7350/8000, Damoh Rs. 6000/7300 and Indore Rs. 7500/8000 per quintal.

Maharashtra

Due to increasing pressure of arrival of new urad in the producing markets and weak demand, Maharashtra urad prices registered a decline of Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs. 8700 in Akola, Rs. 7000/8425 in Latur, Rs. 7200/8300 in Solapur, Rs. 7200/8400 in Dudhni and Rs. 7000/8000 per quintal in Ahmednagar at the weekend.

Others

Due to weak demand, a decline of Rs. 150 was seen in Krishna District Urad of Andhra Pradesh and Rs. 300 per quintal in Vijayawada Urad and the prices remained at Rs. 9100 in Krishna District and Rs. 8800 per quintal in Vijayawada at the weekend. Similarly, Raipur Urad also declined by Rs. 300 this week and remained at Rs. 9300 per quintal at the weekend.

Urad Dal

Due to weak demand, the price of Urad Dal declined by Rs. 200/300 per quintal during the current week and with this decline the prices remained at Delhi Rs. 10600/11500, Bhatapara Rs. 10800/10900, Jalgaon Rs. 11700, Meerut Rs. 10000/10300 and Indore Rs. 10500/13000 per quintal at the weekend.
