Urad prices fall due to weak demand

Chennai. Urad prices declined this week due to availability of new urad in the markets and weak buying. Due to increased availability and low uptake of urad dal, the demand from dal millers remained sluggish, which put pressure on prices. Due to increased selling by importers and low demand, urad prices in Chennai fell by Rs 125/150 per quintal to FAQ Rs 8175 and SQ Rs 9000 per quintal. In Mumbai too, during the same period, urad prices fell by Rs 200 per quintal, and the prices remained at Rs 8350 per quintal.
Burma
Due to weakness in export demand, the price of Burma urad also fell. FAQ declined by $25 and SQ by $25 per tonne, which brought FAQ to $940 per tonne and SQ to $1035 per tonne at the weekend.
Delhi
Urad prices in Delhi declined by Rs. 100/200 per quintal due to fall in port prices and weak buying by dal millers. Following this fall, FAQ to Rs. 8400/25 and SQ to Rs. 9550 per quintal in Delhi.
Madhya Pradesh
Urad prices in Madhya Pradesh declined by Rs. 100/200 per quintal due to increased selling and weak buying and the weekend prices were at Rs. 5000/7500 in Ashoknagar, Rs. 5000/8000 in Jabalpur, Rs. 6300/7500 in Kareli, Rs. 5500/7700 in Damoh and Rs. 7500/8200 per quintal in Indore.
Maharashtra
Urad prices in Maharashtra declined by Rs 100-200 per quintal due to sluggish demand. With this decline, the prices remained at Rs 8650 in Akola, Rs 6000/8400 in Latur, Rs 6100/8300 in Solapur, Rs 6500/8100 in Dudhni and Rs 5400/7700 per quintal in Ahmednagar at the weekend.
Other markets
Due to all-round decline and lack of demand, urad prices declined by Rs 200 per quintal in Krishna district and Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh. Prices were at Rs 8500 in Krishna district and Rs 8600/8700 per quintal in Vijayawada. Urad prices also declined by Rs 300 per quintal in Uttar Pradesh, and prices remained at Rs 7900 per quintal in Chandausi.
Urad dal
Urad dal prices fell by Rs. 100-200 per quintal due to sluggish buying. After this fall, urad dal prices were at Rs. 10850/11750 in Delhi, Rs. 10900/11000 in Bhatapara, Rs. 11600 in Jalgaon, Rs. 9500/10000 in Meerut and Rs. 10000/11700 per quintal in Indore.
