Weekly Review - Urad Prices (December 2024)

General Price Trends

Urad prices experienced a decline across various markets due to weak demand and selling pressure. The lack of buying interest from dal millers, driven by sluggish demand for Urad Dal and Urad Gota, contributed significantly to the price drop.

  • Chennai: Urad prices fell by Rs. 100-175 per quintal, with FAQ at Rs. 8000 and SQ at Rs. 8950 per quintal by the end of the week.
  • Kolkata: A decline of Rs. 250 per quintal was observed, bringing the price to Rs. 8200 per quintal.
  • Delhi: Urad prices decreased by Rs. 100 per quintal, with FAQ at Rs. 8400 and SQ at Rs. 9450 per quintal.
  • Madhya Pradesh: Prices fell by Rs. 200-300 per quintal, with varying prices across regions such as Rs. 5000-7300 in Ashoknagar, Rs. 5500-8000 in Jabalpur, and Rs. 7500-8000 in Indore.
  • Maharashtra: A similar decline of Rs. 200-300 per quintal was noted, with prices in Akola at Rs. 8450 and prices in regions like Latur, Solapur, and Dudhni also seeing a decrease.
  • Other Markets: In Krishna District and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Urad prices saw a slight increase of Rs. 50-100 per quintal, reaching Rs. 8450 and Rs. 8500 respectively.

Burma Market

Prices for Burma Urad also fell due to weak export demand:

  • FAQ decreased by $10 to $920 per tonne.
  • SQ dropped by $10 to $1015 per tonne.

Urad Dal Prices

In line with the decline in raw Urad prices, Urad Dal prices also softened by Rs. 100-200 per quintal:

  • Delhi: Rs. 10750-11950 per quintal.
  • Bhatapara: Rs. 10800-10900 per quintal.
  • Jalgaon: Rs. 11400 per quintal.
  • Meerut: Rs. 9300-9700 per quintal.
  • Indore: Rs. 10000-11700 per quintal.

Overall, the week saw a trend of declining prices across most regions, with exceptions in a few Andhra Pradesh markets where demand showed slight improvement.
