Yearly Market Price Trend – Chana (Desi Chickpea)
★ During the year, chana prices across major Indian markets showed a fluctuating but largely range-bound trend. Prices started the year on a relatively firm note in January, followed by a gradual softening during February and March due to improved arrivals and subdued demand. By April–May, prices stabilised as arrivals eased and demand picked up slightly.
★ From June onwards, prices recovered modestly in most markets, supported by limited stocks and steady consumption. However, during August–September, prices again faced pressure amid fresh arrivals and cautious buying. In the last quarter of the year (October–December), prices remained mostly stable to slightly lower, reflecting balanced demand and adequate availability.
★ Among domestic markets, Delhi, Indore and Mumbai generally traded in a similar range, with yearly averages broadly aligned. Bikaner remained relatively stable compared to other centres.
★ On the international front, Australian chana prices showed noticeable volatility, peaking earlier in the year and easing towards the later months. Tanzanian chana prices remained comparatively stable but at higher levels than Australian origin during the reported period.
★ Overall, the yearly trend indicates that chana prices remained within a defined band, with no extreme spikes, driven mainly by seasonal arrivals, import parity, and steady domestic demand.

2026
★ Prices may trend high due to less imports, import duty on Chana and Pea, expected improvement in demand.
