📉 Australia’s Gram Exports Take a Hit in February
🔹 Exports dropped from 5.76 lakh tonnes in January to 2.98 lakh tonnes in February 2025.
🔹 India’s imports fell, with only 2.35 lakh tonnes coming from Australia.
🔹 Pakistan (37,817 tonnes) and Bangladesh (14,344 tonnes) remained key buyers.
🚜 Record-High Production But Slowing Exports
✅ Australia’s gram production hit an all-time high of 22+ lakh tonnes in 2024-25.
✅ Despite strong exports (20.10 lakh tonnes, Oct-Feb), demand from India is slowing down.
🇮🇳 India’s Changing Import Policy
🛑 May 2024: India made Desi gram duty-free to increase supply & control prices.
📉 Result: Imports surged, domestic prices fell.
🛑 Now: India imposed an 11% customs duty → Imports are slowing down further.
