Bangladesh Floats Tender to Import 50,000 Tonnes of Rice

Dhaka. Bangladesh's Directorate General of Food has issued an international tender for the import of 50,000 tons of non-basmati rice, inviting bids from capable suppliers in sealed covers. This quantity of rice may vary by 5 percent.
The tender is dated November 30, 2025. The deadline for submission is December 15, 2025, at 1 p.m., and received bids will be opened at 2 p.m. on the same day. The sale of tender forms began on December 1.
According to the terms of the tender, successful bidders will be required to ship 60 percent of this 50,000 tons of non-basmati rice to the Chittagong port and the remaining 40 percent to the Mongla port. Delivery will be made on a CIF liner-out basis, including the price of the rice, transportation costs, and insurance.
The price of the rice will be quoted in US dollars, including all expenses. The tender document has been fixed at 5,000 taka, or US$100, which is non-refundable.
The price of the rice will be paid through a Letter of Credit (LC). The rice to be shipped must be produced in 2025 or later. The offer is valid until December 29, 2025.
The tender also stipulates certain terms and conditions regarding the quality of the rice. The tender also states that the quantity can be 50,000 tons and that Basmati Sela rice can be from any country except Israel.
A bank draft/pay order of US$300,000 will be submitted as the tender security amount in favor of the Directorate General of Food. The entire quantity of rice must be shipped within 40 days of opening the LC, and at least 50% of the quantity within the first 25 days.
