Toronto. Despite a decline in production, the supply situation for lentils in Canada remains comfortable due to high carry-over stocks. However, farmers are selling relatively smaller quantities from their holdings, even as prices—particularly for large green lentils—show a firming trend.
According to the Canadian Grain Commission, bulk loading of lentils onto vessels at Canadian ports rose to 243,000 tonnes in September 2026. This is nearly ten times the volume recorded in August (25,400 tonnes) and 14,000 tonnes higher than the shipments in September 2025 (229,000 tonnes).
The Commission’s report indicates that total lentil exports from Canada during the first two months of the current marketing season (August–September 2026) reached 268,400 tonnes, slightly higher than the 253,100 tonnes shipped during the same period in 2025. The harvesting of the lentil crop in Canada has concluded, and an increase in market arrivals is now expected.
