Canada – Crop Conditions MIxed
★ Southern Manitoba and Southeast Saskatchewan are reporting decent crop conditions. However, South-Central and Southwest Saskatchewan and Southern Alberta are facing challenges, with crops in need of substantial rainfall.
Pea and Lentil Crop Outlook:
★ Peas: The crop is looking promising, with yield expected to rise by 1.7 bu./ac. to 36.6 bu./ac. Total production is projected to increase by 420,000 tonnes, reaching over 3.4 million tonnes.
★ Lentils: Productivity may decline, with total production expected to drop by 83,169 tonnes to 2.35 million tonnes compared to last year. Notably, area under red lentils has decreased, indicating a potential sharp drop in red lentil output.
★ Canola: Production is projected at 18.57 million tonnes, down 550,000 tonnes from last year.
★ Spring Wheat: Expected to reach 25.7 million tonnes, nearly the same as last year.
★ Barley: Production may fall by 220,000 tonnes to 7.6 million tonnes.
