Canada Market Update
Lentils
★ The lentil market remained mixed this week. Lack of large green lentil orders from Algeria pressured the market, bringing some bids down to 25 cents, though good quality parcels are still fetching up to 27 cents.
★ Buyers remain interested in premium grades such as #1 and Extra #2.
★ Small green lentils are trading near 22 cents/lb, while red lentils (#2 grade) also sit around 22 cents/lb.
★ New crop pricing has not yet emerged.
~~~~~~~~
Peas
★ Pea prices remain steady.
★ Yellow peas are trading at USD 7.50–8.00/bu, green peas at USD 10.50–11.00/bu, and maple peas at USD 10.00–11.50/bu.
★ Ample supply continues to limit chances of a strong price rally in the near term.
~~~~~
Kabuli Chickpeas
★ Canada is harvesting its largest chickpea crop in nearly two decades, pressuring high-quality Kabuli prices.
★ Oversupply in the feed sector and strong global competition are adding further downward pressure.
★ AAFC projects Canada’s 2025–26 carryout to nearly double.
★ India remains a key player in exports.
★ #2 Kabuli (30% 9 mm+) values are around 28 c/lb, off-grade at 16–24 c/lb, and feed near 10 c/lb.
