Santiago. The final shipment report released by the exporters' association, ChileNut Export, reveals a significant increase in the country's walnut exports during the 2025-26 marketing season. High demand was observed for in-shell walnuts in the Middle East region, while shelled walnuts saw strong demand in Europe.
According to the report, Chile—a country situated on the South American continent—recorded negligible exports of in-shell walnuts in March; however, over the entire 2025-26 season, shipments of this variety were approximately 26 percent higher compared to the 2024-25 season.
Significantly, walnut exports to the Middle East/Africa region surpassed those to the Asia/Oceania region. Compared to 2024-25, walnut exports from Chile to the Asia/Oceania region declined by 14 percent during the 2025-26 season, settling at 30,513 tons; conversely, exports to the Middle East and Africa more than doubled,
surging to 34,936 tons. Similarly, walnut exports to Europe rose by 32 percent to reach 23,918 tons, while exports to the Americas improved by 6 percent, reaching 2,270 tons. Although exports to India declined by 17 percent, it nevertheless remained a major importing nation.
On the other hand, exports to Turkey surged by 61 percent, and exports to the United Arab Emirates increased eleven-fold. Walnut imports from Chile into India contracted from 33,968 tons to 28,185 tons.
