Support came from Russia’s threat that if Ukraine continues attacking Russia-linked vessels, it may consider cutting Ukraine off from the sea.
CFTC data for the week of October 21 was released this afternoon, showing managed money trimming 30,070 contracts from their net short position to 160,985 contracts. Commercial traders added shorts during the same week, increasing their net short by 37,087 contracts to 50,863 contracts.
EIA data for the week ending November 28 will be released on Wednesday. Traders are watching to see whether ethanol production held up during the holiday week after the nearly record output reported in the prior week. Some analysts expect a slight pullback in production.
