ICE Cotton Futures declined by 79 to 103 points across the front months on Friday. December cotton was down 491 points for the week.
Crude oil prices fell $2.38 per barrel during Friday’s session, while the U.S. Dollar Index declined by 0.040 points.
According to CFTC Commitment of Traders data, Managed Money reduced its net long position by 2,267 contracts during the week of September 15, bringing the net long position to 97,903 contracts.
This week’s Export Sales data showed cotton export commitments of 4.5 million RB as of September 10, which is 13% above the 5-year average. This represents 39% of the USDA export forecast but remains behind the 48% average pace.
On September 17, the Cotlook A Index declined by 25 points to 94.35.
ICE certified cotton stocks were unchanged on September 17, with certified stocks standing at 36,617 bales.
On Thursday, the Adjusted World Price declined by 59 points to 68.92 cents per pound.
