ICE cotton futures failed to maintain overnight gains and closed 20–25 points lower. Crude oil futures fell $1.23 to $58.85 per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index rose 0.107 to 99.075.
Dated Export Sales data showed 292,146 running bales sold during the week of November 6, the highest of the marketing year—well above the prior week and 27.55% higher than the same week last year. Shipments totaled 135,898 running bales, down from the previous week.
The Seam’s December 5 online auction reported sales of 3,670 bales at an average price of 62.51 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index fell 50 points on Thursday to 74.20 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks declined by 1,614 bales on December 5 to 13,971 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated last week to 51.28 cents per pound, up 51 points from the previous week.
