ICE cotton futures closed slightly higher on Friday, with contracts gaining 14 to 17 points. The December contract ended the week up 156 points. Crude oil futures were down 67 cents on the day to $58.40 per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index slipped $0.092 to 99.430.
USDA’s Export Sales report showed 175,678 running bales of cotton sold during the week of 10/16, up 11.45% from the previous week. Shipments were the highest of the marketing year at 159,631 running bales.
At The Seam’s online auction on November 26, a total of 3,553 bales were sold at an average price of 61.16 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index was up 45 points on Thursday at 74.95 cents. ICE-certified cotton stocks were steady at 20,344 bales as of 11/26. The Adjusted World Price was updated this week to 50.77 cents/lb, down 3 points from the previous week.
