ICE cotton futures posted losses of 30 to 38 points on Thursday, pulling back from early gains. Crude oil futures rose 76 cents to $59.71 per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index gained 0.129 to reach 98.930.
Export Sales data for the week ending October 30 showed upland cotton sales at just 81,530 RB — the lowest weekly total of the marketing year. Shipments were 146,581 RB, a 3-week low.
The December 3 online auction from The Seam reported sales of 10,758 bales at an average price of 59.66 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index dropped 15 points to 74.80 cents on Tuesday. ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady on December 3 at 19,894 bales. The Adjusted World Price (AWP) was updated this week to 51.28 cents/lb, up 51 points from the previous week.
