ICE cotton futures closed Thursday’s session higher, with contracts gaining between 21 and 123 points. The US dollar index rose by $0.296 to 99.695, while crude oil increased by $3.46 to $93.79 per barrel.
Export Sales data showed that 2025/26 cotton sales totaled 202,444 bales for the week ending March 19, which was 2.92% higher than the previous week and nearly double the same week last year. Vietnam purchased 91,400 bales and Pakistan bought 24,000 bales.
Sales for the 2026/27 marketing year totaled 27,017 bales, marking an eight-week low.
Shipments during the week were the largest in just over a year at 400,552 bales. Vietnam was the top destination with 164,100 bales, followed by Pakistan with 60,500 bales.
On the Seam platform, 3,809 bales were sold on Wednesday at an average price of 65.89 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index fell by 45 points on March 25 to 78.20 cents per pound. ICE certified cotton stocks remained unchanged on March 25 at 114,665 bales. The Adjusted World Price was increased by 25 points to 54.47 cents per pound.
