Raisen. The Union Agriculture Minister has stated that, due to the onslaught of unseasonal rains and storms during March and April, reports have been received indicating damage to Rabi crops across 2.49 lakh hectares nationwide so far; however, the crop survey and damage assessment process remains ongoing. Among all crops, the wheat crop has suffered the most extensive damage as a result of this natural calamity.
According to the Agriculture Minister, the survey to assess crop damage is being conducted jointly by three government departments.
As per reports received up to April 8, the wheat crop has sustained the most severe damage. Following wheat, other horticultural crops—including mangoes and litchis—have also suffered damage.
The Central Government stands firmly with the farmers during this hour of crisis and is committed to ensuring that they do not suffer any financial loss.
It is noteworthy that on April 5, the Union Agriculture Minister had directed officials to collaborate with the governments of the affected states to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the damage, and had himself held extensive discussions with the state governments regarding this issue.
