New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding hot weather conditions and the prevalence of 'heatwaves' across several states in the country next week. The affected regions include parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, the Gangetic plains of West Bengal, coastal Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and coastal Karnataka, among others.
Due to high temperatures and rising humidity, the intensity of severe hot winds (heatwaves) is expected to persist throughout the coming week in these states. This could not only disrupt daily life but also accelerate the rate at which moisture evaporates from agricultural soil.
Meanwhile, in the northwestern part of the country, maximum temperatures are projected to rise gradually by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius over the next few days, while central states may witness an increase of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. In the eastern states, temperatures are likely to rise by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius. Gujarat and Maharashtra are expected to see an increase of 2 to 4 degrees in maximum temperatures.
According to the Meteorological Department, an upper-air cyclonic circulation is currently situated over parts of Assam and northeastern Bihar. Consequently, there is a likelihood of rainfall or thundershowers occurring across the entire northeastern region on various days throughout the coming week.
