Deoria. The insurance process for these two important Rabi crops has begun in Uttar Pradesh, the state's largest producer of wheat and second-largest mustard.

The deadline for crop insurance in the Deoria district is December 31, 2025. The premium under this insurance scheme is ₹1,141.50 for wheat and ₹678 for mustard.

Farmers who opt for crop insurance will receive adequate compensation for crop damage due to natural disasters, which could provide significant relief.

Deoria is an important agricultural district in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The total Rabi crop production area in the entire district has reached 175,883 hectares, including 143,270 hectares under wheat and 24,585 hectares under mustard.

Additionally, 3,543 hectares have been cultivated with rapeseed. Only wheat and mustard have been notified for crop insurance.

The responsibility for crop insurance has been assigned to the Agricultural Insurance Company. Farmers will have to pay a premium of ₹1,141.50 per hectare for wheat insurance, while the premium for mustard has been fixed at ₹678 per hectare. Both indebted and non-indebted farmers can participate in crop insurance.

Farmers who have obtained a Kisan Credit Card from a bank can request crop insurance from their banks and will need to provide details of their crops when insuring.

Non-indebted farmers, on the other hand, can insure their crops by visiting a public service center or insurance portal, or by paying the premium to an insurance representative.
