Turmeric - No slowdown despite high sowing
New Delhi. There is news of 25/30 percent increase in the sowing area of turmeric this year due to the producers getting a fair price for their produce during the current season and the weather becoming favorable for turmeric sowing due to rains in the major producing state Maharashtra.
It is worth mentioning that Maharashtra contributes about 45/50 percent in the production of turmeric. Currently, the prices of turmeric at the producing centers are being quoted more than double as compared to last year.
Traders say that although the sowing area will increase. But the new crop will come in the month of January. Till then the availability of turmeric will be less.
Due to which there is a possibility of increase in the prices of turmeric in the coming days. Due to high prices in the current season, a decline has been recorded in the export of turmeric.
