ЁЯУв Key Update: KarnatakaтАЩs Food & Civil Supplies Minister has urged the Central Government to expand PDS (Public Distribution System) to include wheat, sugar, edible oil, and pulses along with rice.

Current PDS Scenario in Karnataka
тЬФя╕П Total NFSA Beneficiaries: 4.01 crore
Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY): 43.88 lakh
Primary Household (PHH): 3.58 crore
тЬФя╕П Existing PDS Supply:
5 kg rice/month per beneficiary (provided by the Central Government).
Karnataka Government started an additional food grain distribution scheme in June 2023.
Due to rice shortage, the state government deposited тВ╣170/month in beneficiaries' bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
From February 2025, after an agreement with the Central Government, 10 kg of rice is now being provided instead of cash.
