FCI’s central pool grain stock scenario: Rice remains strong, wheat declines – total stock at 610.79 lakh tonnes
★ As of December 2, 2025, the total foodgrain stock under the Food Corporation of India (FCI) stood at 610.79 lakh tonnes. However, compared to November, the total stock has decreased by nearly 32.39 lakh tonnes.

Wheat stocks decline but remain above buffer norm
★ Wheat stocks were recorded at 292.35 lakh tonnes, down by 14.92 lakh tonnes from November. Despite the monthly decline, wheat stocks are 86.35 lakh tonnes higher compared to the same period last year.
★ Against the January buffer norm of 138 lakh tonnes, the current stock is higher by 154.35 lakh tonnes, indicating that wheat availability remains comfortably above the safety threshold.

Rice stocks increase, situation comfortable
★ According to the report, rice stocks have reached 318.44 lakh tonnes, showing an improvement compared to the previous month’s 335.91 lakh tonnes. Rice stocks are 38.16 lakh tonnes higher year-on-year.
★ With the January buffer norm at 76.1 lakh tonnes, the current stock is 242.34 lakh tonnes in surplus, reflecting a very comfortable supply scenario for rice.

Paddy availability
★ Unmilled paddy, in terms of rice, is estimated at 207.08 lakh tonnes.
★ With both wheat and rice stocks well above their buffer norms, the overall supply position remains stable at present.
