Global Palm Oil Output Expected to Rise by 1.2 Million Tons

Mumbai. Data presented by Oil World at the Global Oil India 2025 Summit indicates that global palm oil production is projected to increase by approximately 1.2 million tons in 2026 compared to 2025. According to Oil World, global palm oil production is projected to total 83.46 million tons in 2025, while production is expected to reach 84.6 million tons in 2026. Under this, palm oil production in Indonesia,
the leading producer and exporter country, is expected to increase from 490 lakh tonnes to 497 lakh tonnes and in Thailand, it is expected to improve from 34.80 lakh tonnes to 35.30 lakh tonnes, but in Malaysia, the second leading producer and exporter country, palm oil production is expected to fall from 194 lakh tonnes to 192.50 lakh tonnes.
Besides, in comparison to 2025, palm oil production in C&S America is expected to increase from 58.40 lakh tonnes to 61.90 lakh tonnes,
in Africa it is expected to improve from 38.90 lakh tonnes to 40.10 lakh tonnes and in other countries of the world it is expected to increase from 18.50 lakh tonnes to 19.20 lakh tonnes. This is the initial production estimate which may undergo some changes.
According to Oil World, global palm oil production was previously estimated at 79.12 million tonnes in 2024, 81.7 million tonnes in 2023, and 79.45 million tonnes in 2022.
India is the largest importer of palm oil, importing large quantities annually from countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
