Global rice prices are unlikely to rebound

Hyderabad. Although global rice prices have improved slightly in the past few days, exporters are not considering this a sustainable trend. Trade analysts say that easing rice supply and availability,

combined with weak demand in importing countries, could further pressure prices in the future. The rice market had strengthened slightly due to heavy rainfall, typhoons, and severe flooding in Vietnam, Indonesia, and several other countries (including Sri Lanka).

In fact, the Philippines, a leading importer, will continue to ban rice imports until December 31, 2025, forcing Vietnamese exporters to seek new markets.

It is worth noting that the Philippines has been the largest exporter of rice from Vietnam. Competition among exporting countries is increasing in the global market.

The export offer price of Indian non-basmati rice is significantly lower than that of Thailand and Vietnam, but slightly higher than that of Pakistan. Bangladesh has decided to import 100,000 tons of rice from Pakistan, and Pakistan has begun preparations for its shipment.

Indian non-basmati rice export performance remained somewhat weak in the first half of the current fiscal year. Expected demand for it in African countries is not being met. Rice production in India has risen to new record levels.
