Government Procurement of Maize Begins in Uttar Pradesh Following Wheat

Lucknow. The government wheat procurement drive in Uttar Pradesh is set to formally conclude on June 15, 2026, and the procurement of maize from farmers has commenced today across 26 districts of the state. The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to procure *Zaid* season (summer) maize in these 26 districts between June 15 and July 31 at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2,400 per quintal, as announced by the Centre.
The Principal Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department stated that detailed and necessary guidelines regarding maize procurement under the MSP scheme have been issued. A large-scale procurement drive will be conducted with the aim of ensuring profitable returns for maize farmers.
According to the Secretary, a total of 150 procurement centers have been established across these 26 districts. The state government has set a target to procure 25,000 tonnes of maize during the current *Zaid* season.
The 26 districts where the decision to procure maize from farmers at MSP has been taken include Agra, Firozabad, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Hathras, Kasganj, Budaun, Etah, Rampur, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Etawah, Kannauj, Auraiya, Bahraich, Unnao, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Mirzapur, Fatehpur, Ballia, and Gonda. Two additional districts have been included in the list this time.
Maize procurement at the centers will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 6:00 PM. The government has instructed agencies to ensure seamless procurement and the timely removal of stock from the centers to prevent any inconvenience to the farmers.
