Gujarat ranks first in cotton production
Gujarat has secured the top position in cotton production in India for the cotton season 2023-24, according to the central government. The state produced an impressive 90.57 lakh bales, surpassing other significant cotton-producing states such as Maharashtra and Telangana.
India's total cotton production for this period is estimated at 325.22 lakh bales, highlighting Gujarat's substantial contribution to the nation's cotton output. To bolster India's global presence in the cotton industry, the central government has launched initiatives like the "Kasturi Cotton India" brand, with 47,600 bales certified under this initiative to promote high-quality Indian cotton worldwide.
