Increased Pea Exports from Canada in August

Ottawa: A report by the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) states that 128,300 tonnes of field peas were loaded for export through licensed terminal and transfer elevators during August 2026. This volume is nearly five times the 21,500 tonnes recorded in July 2026 and approximately 30 percent higher than the 98,900 tonnes loaded in August 2025.

It is noteworthy that the CGC assesses product volume at the time of loading onto vessels, whereas another agency—StatsCan—bases its calculations on the date of the bill of lading.

Another key point is that CGC figures are derived solely from information provided by exporters regarding shipments handled through primary elevators and licensed terminals, excluding other sources. Conversely, StatsCan data encompasses all sources, which is why it does not align with the CGC figures.
