The USDA announced a private export sale of 110,000 metric tons of corn to Portugal this morning for 2024/25 shipment. This follows the 120,000 metric tons sold to Japan on Monday.
As of April 13, NASS reported that 4% of the U.S. corn crop had been planted, slightly behind the 5-year average of 5%. Only Kansas and Texas were ahead of the average pace. Rain is expected next week from Iowa to Indiana, with heavier totals in Missouri and Kansas, which could hinder early planting progress through Monday.
EIA data will be released Wednesday morning. Some analysts expect ethanol production to remain steady after last week’s sharp decline.
