According to the Crop Progress report, as of May 4, 40% of the U.S. corn crop had been planted, which is 1 percentage point ahead of the 5-year average pace. Emergence was recorded at 11%, ahead of the 5-year average of 9%.
According to USDA’s Export Inspections report, a total of 1.61 million metric tons (63.32 million bushels) of corn was exported during the week ending May 1. This was just 3.48% lower than the previous week but 23.81% higher than the same week in 2024. Mexico was the top destination, receiving 557,095 MT, followed by Japan with 433,524 MT and Colombia with 165,983 MT.
So far this marketing year, total shipments have reached 42.515 million metric tons (1.674 billion bushels), up 28.8% compared to the same week last year.
Brazil’s corn crop estimate has been raised by Celeres to 135.4 million metric tons, up 0.8 MMT from their previous forecast.
