ICE cotton futures closed slightly higher at the end of the session, though most contracts remained 7 to 18 points lower, finishing well above the intraday low.
Crude oil futures rose by $2.04 per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index increased by $0.130.
According to the USDA’s Prospective Plantings Report, cotton planting intentions for this spring stand at 9.867 million acres, slightly below the average trade estimate. If realized, this would represent a decline of 1.315 million acres from the previous year.
On March 28, the Seam online sales platform recorded sales of 2,234 bales at an average price of 60.52 cents per pound.
The Cotlook A Index increased by 125 points on Friday, reaching 79.15 cents per pound.
ICE cotton stocks remained unchanged on March 28, with certified stock levels at 14,488 bales.
The USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) dropped 97 points to 53.66 cents per pound in the Thursday afternoon report.
