ICE cotton futures closed Friday’s session with most front-month contracts down 10 to 15 points, while the March contract was down 10 points for the week. Crude oil futures fell 9 cents per barrel to $57.51, and the US dollar index declined 0.061 to 98.405.
A delayed CFTC report showed that spec funds trimmed 2,086 contracts from their net short position in the week ending November 18, taking the net short to 58,243 contracts.
Thursday’s online auction on The Seam recorded sales of 13,615 bales at an average price of 60.93 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose 25 points on December 11 to 74.20 cents.
ICE certified cotton stocks were steady on December 11, with certified stocks totaling 13,971 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated on Thursday to 50.39 cents per pound, down 89 points from the previous week.
