USDA reported a private export sale of 132,000 MT of soybeans to China this morning. Known China purchases through daily flash sales and weekly data have now accumulated to 3.5 MMT. In addition, another soybean meal sale was reported to Mexico totaling 104,328 MT, of which 93,895 MT is for the current marketing year and 10,433 MT for the next marketing year.
Commitment of Traders data was updated this afternoon for the week ending November 18, showing spec funds added 35,182 contracts to their net long position. As of that date, their net long stood at 229,625 contracts, the largest since October 2020.
Another backlogged update to the Export Sales report will be released on Monday. Traders are looking for soybean sales of 0.8 to 3.0 MMT for the week ending November 20. Soybean meal sales are estimated at 100,000 to 450,000 MT, while soybean oil sales are expected at 5,000 to 25,000 MT.
China’s state stockpiler Sinograin has scheduled another auction for 513,000 MT of imported soybeans, to be held next Tuesday.
