A phone call took place this morning between U.S. President Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping. According to a post by the President, during the discussion President Trump expressed interest in increasing soybean purchase commitments for the current season to 20 million metric tons, compared with the previously stated 12 million metric tons.
USDA’s Export Sales report will be released on Thursday. Traders estimate soybean sales for the week ending January 29 to be between 0.4 and 1.6 million metric tons. Soybean meal sales are expected to be between 250,000 and 500,000 metric tons, while soybean oil sales are estimated at 0 to 25,000 metric tons.
