Jaggery prices rise due to low arrival and strong demand

The price of jaggery has risen significantly in recent days due to a combination of limited arrivals and strong demand, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai.
In February, the supply of jaggery in Uttar Pradesh decreased, while demand remained steady, pushing prices up by Rs 100-200 per quintal. The price of jaggery in various markets has been fluctuating.
For example, in Muzaffarnagar, the prices ranged from Rs 1360 to Rs 1510 per 40 kg for knife jaggery, while in Mumbai, prices increased by Rs 200, reaching Rs 5000-5500 per quintal.
The increase in sugarcane prices, currently around Rs 360-370 per quintal, has raised the production costs of jaggery, further contributing to the price hike.
As of now, the stock of jaggery in Muzaffarnagar is reported to be lower than last year, with only about 7000 sacks arriving daily in the market.
With strong demand from stockists and alcohol manufacturers, the price of jaggery is expected to rise even further in the near future, and the chances of a price decline appear slim.
