Kharif 2024 procurement data by NAFED (Date: 18.11.24)
The procurement data for Kharif 2024 by NAFED, as of 18th November 2024, shows significant gaps in meeting the set targets for Mung (moong) and Urad crops:

Moong Procurement:
Total Procurement: Approximately 55,000 tonnes, which is only 19.42% of the target of 2.82 lakh tonnes.
State-wise Procurement:
Karnataka: 21,455 tonnes (target 38,320 tonnes)
Telangana: 1,004 tonnes (target 3,608 tonnes)
Maharashtra: 7.4 tonnes (target 17,188 tonnes)
Rajasthan: 32,508 tonnes (target 2.03 lakh tonnes)
No Procurement: Moong procurement could not be carried out in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana.
Urad Procurement:
Total Procurement: Very low, with only 14 tonnes procured from Rajasthan.
Challenges: Procurement is sluggish because market prices are above the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Target: The procurement target for urad this year is 8.2 lakh tonnes, which seems difficult to achieve under current conditions.
This data highlights the challenges faced by NAFED in meeting procurement targets for both crops, particularly due to market price dynamics and regional procurement issues.
