Kharif 2025 Sowing Analysis – Moong
★ Moong acreage rises by 2.79 lakh hectares across India; Rajasthan and Karnataka lead
★ According to the Ministry of Agriculture (GOI), as of July 18, 2025, moong has been sown over 27.31 lakh hectares across the country. This is an increase of 2.79 lakh hectares or approximately 11.4% compared to the same period last year, when the sown area stood at 24.52 lakh hectares.

State-wise updates are as follows:
★ In Gujarat, as of July 21, 2025, moong has been sown over 0.33 lakh hectares, up from 0.27 lakh hectares last year—an increase of 0.06 lakh hectares.
★ In Karnataka, as of July 18, 2025, the sown area stands at 4.15 lakh hectares, up by 0.03 lakh hectares compared to last year.
★ Rajasthan leads the acreage with 22.26 lakh hectares sown as of July 25, 2025, compared to 21.09 lakh hectares last year—an increase of 1.17 lakh hectares.
★ In Telangana, as of July 23, 2025, moong has been sown over 0.49 lakh hectares, down from 0.57 lakh hectares last year—a decline of 0.08 lakh hectares.
★ In Maharashtra, as of July 21, 2025, the sown area is 2.01 lakh hectares, which is 0.20 lakh hectares lower than last year’s 2.21 lakh hectares.
★ Across these five key states, the total moong acreage is 29.24 lakh hectares, compared to 28.26 lakh hectares last year—an increase of 0.98 lakh hectares.
