★ The data clearly shows a notable hike in MSPs, especially for tur and urad. This move by the government may encourage some farmers, particularly those selling directly to government agencies, to shift more towards pulse cultivation.
★ However, the real impact will be seen during the sowing season. A key factor to watch will be whether the tur purchased earlier by the government is released into the market.
★ Currently, market prices of pulses are already below MSP levels.
★ In Pool stocks of Urad is negligible and Mung is satisfactory.
★ If large-scale government selling begins, it could further depress prices, which may influence farmers’ sowing decisions negatively.
