News Capsule: Base import duty on edible oils reduced, no change in import tax
★ The government has cut the base import prices of palm oils by $3–$22 per tonne, while increasing the base import price of crude soybean oil by $14 per tonne. The base prices of palmolein oils remain unchanged. These revised rates will remain in effect from today until 15 December 2025.
★ The government reviews base import prices of edible oils every fortnight based on global price movements and currency exchange rates.
★ The base price of crude palm oil has been reduced by $22/tonne, while RBD palm oil has been lowered by $3/tonne.
★ There is no change in the rates of crude and RBD palmolein.
★ The base price of crude soybean oil has been increased by $14/tonne.
