News Capsule: Ethanol Blending Reaches 20%
★ In November, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) procured 4.5 billion litres of ethanol. In 2025, about 8.96 billion litres of ethanol were blended into petrol.
★ In the ethanol year 2025–26, OMCs used a total of 10.22 billion litres of ethanol.
★ In the previous tender, out of 17.76 billion litres offered, 10.48 billion litres of ethanol were approved. Of this, ethanol produced from corn accounted for 45.68%, FCI rice 22.25%, sugarcane juice 15.42%, B-heavy molasses 10%, damaged grain 4.5%, and C-heavy molasses 1.4%.
★ Corn continues to hold the top position, but rice is gradually increasing its share.
★ Going forward, the share of FCI rice in ethanol production may increase further.
